Allen W. Colgrove, 73, of Odell passed away April 13, 2023. He was born May 23, 1949, in Odell, Nebraska. He was the son of the late Wayne A. Colgrove and Evelyn A. (Lisec) Colgrove. He was baptized on April 2, 1961, at the First Christian Church in Odell, Nebraska, later transferring to the Church of Christ in Wymore, Nebraska. Allen attended school at Odell Public School graduating in 1967. Allen attended the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis, Nebraska, where he studied to be an ag/diesel mechanic. He married Sandy (Arntt) Klaus on December 17, 2005.
Over the years he worked various jobs starting out at Roehrs Machinery after college then driving for companies such as Briggs Brokerage and Bowhay Truck Line. He finally settled into the family business at Colgrove Contractors Inc eventually taking over the daily operations of the company. If he wasn't out driving, he was in the shop working on the trucks to keep them on the road. In 1990 the trucks were sold, and he was needed on the family farm. Eventually he went back to the job he loved driving. He put in several years with Roelfs Transfer, Bekemeyer Enterprises and Harms Farms Trucking before he was forced to retire because of his health.
He is survived by his wife Sandy (Arntt) (Klaus) Colgrove of 17 years. Daughter Shelly Colgrove-Habluetzel husband Scott Habluetzel and grandson Jeramy Colgrove-Habluetzel of Barneston. Stepson Todd Klaus and wife Jacqueline of Sioux City Iowa, step grandchildren Joseph (Tamara) Habluetzel, Robert (Amber) Reichert, Arielle (Beaudee) Cline, Trenton Haake, step Great Grandchildren William and Charles Habluetzel and Mady and Maxxtyn Cline, sisters Joyce (Joe) Tackett, Eileen (Dennis) Kostal, and Karen Eggert, sister-in-LawTammie (Ron) Duensing. Numerous nieces and nephews and friends that have become family over the years.
Preceded in death by his parents and parents in law, first wife Kathy, niece Amanda and nephew Cody.
Visitation with family will be Tuesday April 18th from 6-8 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury Nebraska. Services will be Wednesday April 19th, 2023, at 11 am at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury Nebraska with a lunch immediately following the service. Following the lunch we will head to the Odell Cemetery for burial for those that wish to join us. Memorial will go to family’s choice.
