Alvin J. Bures

Alvin J. Bures 87 of Odell, NE. passed away March 18, 2014. He was born July 28, 1926 in Odell, NE. to John & Emily (Hubka) Bures. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Army Veteran.

On Sunday February 28, 1954 he married Verla Mae Klaus. They farmed north of Odell in Elm township, living on the family farm all but the last few years.  Alvin was a 57 year member of the Armstrong-Wasserman Legion Post 231 of Odell, enjoyed fishing, family celebrations, & attending his grandchildren’s activities

Survivors are Sons: Terrance Bures & Wife Connie of Beatrice, Randall Bures & Wife Annette of Urbandale, IA., Daughters: Sondra Klover & Husband Douglas of Marysville, KS., Brenda Thanel & Husband William of Derby, KS., Lori Stohs of Omaha, 9 Grandchildren: Erin Blake & Husband Brandon, Steven Bures & Wife Felicia, Benson Bures, Jessica Pecenka & Husband Alex, Hilary Rombeck & Husband Andrew, Kate Spitsnogle & Husband Dexter, Jayden Thanel, Ethan Stohs, & Emily Stohs, 7 Great Grandchildren, Sisters-in-law: Ella Klaus  & Lola Dorn of Beatrice, Brothers-in-law: Vernon Klaus & Wife Eleanor of Fairbury, David Klaus of Odell, Myron Lohse of Hanover, KS., Many Nieces & Nephews, extended family & friends.

He was preceded by Parents, Wife Verla, an infant brother, Sisters & their Husbands Irene & Lammert Trauernicht, Adelaide & George Nutsch, Lorene & Joseph Zulek, Rosabelle & Leonard Wells, Ardith & Walter Frerichs, In Laws Martin & Paula (Duensing) Klaus, Sisters-in-law & Brothers-in-law Everett Klaus, Elaine & Eldo Minge, Anita Lohse, Lavern Dorn, Arlin Klaus, & Darlene Klaus.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 22, 2014 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Odell. Visitation will be on Friday, March 21 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family there from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Odell. Burial at the Odell Czech Cemetery-Odell, NE. Memorials to the Family’s Choice. Vance-Gerdes-Funeral Home in Odell are in charge of arrangements.
