Alyce Nadine McCourtney, 77, passed away on April 13, 2026. A beloved Mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Alyce was a woman of character and warmth who remained deeply rooted in the Nebraska communities she loved.

A celebration of Alyce’s life will be held on April 26th at Chautauqua Park in Beatrice, Nebraska, from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Family and friends are encouraged to come enjoy a meal and share their favorite memories of Alyce. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in care of the family to be designated later.

Alyce was born on January 2, 1949, in Humboldt, Nebraska, to Robert "Pat" and Thelma "Sam" McCourtney. She was a proud graduate of the Auburn High School Class of 1967. Following graduation, Alyce became a familiar face and a hard worker throughout the Auburn area. Regardless of the task, she found genuine Joy in her work and in the people she met along the way.

A woman of many interests, Alyce was an avid reader who could often be found lost in a book. She had a keen eye for collecting treasures and finding beauty in the unique. Her home was often filled with the classic sounds of The Beatles and Elvis Presley, but no melody was as sweet to her as the time she spent surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Thelma McCourtney; sister Doretta Lovenburg, and her brother Roger "Butch" McCourtney.

Alyce’s legacy lives on through her daughters Barbie L. Howard, Nancy J. Bray, both of Fairbury, and Seairla D. McCourtney of Lincoln; she was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren: Misty McCourtney, Jake and Ami Howard, Jerry (Ashley), Erik, and Sydney Bray, and Jude Able; she also took great pride in her 13 great-grandchildren.
