Ann Hathaway (Gove) McCord, 68, of Fairbury, passed away September 16, 2016, surrounded by loving family. Ann was born January 5, 1948 in Tucson, AZ, to Charles F. and MaryLue (Reay) Gove.
With a military upbringing, Ann started elementary school in Japan and ultimately graduated high school at University High in Lincoln in 1965. Ann attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln, pledged, and was an active member of Chi Omega, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. While attending university, she met and united in marriage with James M. McCord, November 24, 1967. To this union were born Matthew, Sara, Megan and Emily.
Ann was a well-respected hygienist for over 45 years and enjoyed hobbies such as painting, pottery, and making proprietary collectibles. Her creative hobbies progressed into several entrepreneurial business ventures over the years. As an active member of the community, Ann served two terms on the Fairbury School Board and maintained various Fine Arts involvements. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grand-children and supporting their various sporting and extracurricular activities.
Ann is survived by her husband James; son Matthew McCord (Jill Livingston) of Fairbury; daughters Sara Carroll (Brian) of Olathe, KS, Megan Burkey (Tyler) of Milford, and Emily McCord of Owasso, OK. Grandchildren include Thorne, Sondra, Karly, Natalie, Brett, Arriana, Sydney, and Lucas. She is also survived by her brothers Chuck and Stan and sister Kathy.
Memorial services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016, Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home, 2414 H Street Fairbury, NE 68352. For those unable to attend services, there will be an opportunity to greet the family Thursday, September 22, 2016, 6:00pm at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Homes.
Donations in memory will be per the family’s discretion.
