Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant, Ann.
Anna Jeannette Brueggemann, daughter of William G. and Berniece L. (Saylor) Houser, was born near Daykin on January 15, 1926.
She was baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit on September 8, 1940 at the United Methodist Church of Daykin by the Rev. Sill.
Ann confessed her baptismal faith in the rite of Confirmation on June 16, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Daykin. She was instructed by the Rev. O. R. Heinitz. Her confirmation verses were Psalm 145:18, 19; John 10:27, 28; and Hebrews 13:5. She was admitted to the altar to receive the medicine of immortality, Christ’s life-giving body and blood.
Ann was joined together in holy matrimony to Melvin M. Brueggemann on August 25, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Daykin by the Rev. O. R. Heinitz. God raised through this union five children, James, Jerry, Gene, Janette, and Jan.
On June 24, 2014, at the age of 88 years, Ann fell asleep in Jesus at the Good Samaritan Society of Beatrice.
She is survived by four sons, James and wife Kathy of Beatrice, Jerry and wife Karlene of Fairbury, Gene and wife Marilyn of Clatonia, and Jan and wife Isabel of Irvine, California; one daughter, Janette Bartels and husband Scott of Western; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Ann is predeceased by her husband, Melvin, on December 29, 2013; her brothers Wayne Houser, and William G. Houser, Jr.; sister Marilyn Krupicka; brother-in-law Vernan Brueggemann; and sisters-in-law Arline Schwisow and Dolores Henke.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister, Ann.
