Anna Mae Johnson, 74 of Fairbury, NE passed away April 1st 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was born April 4, 1942 to Orra Hein & Ruth Orwig. She was raised in Thompson by August & Muriel Hein when she was a small child.
Anna graduated at Fairbury High School and attended 1 year of Art College in Kansas. She then married her high school sweetheart Dick Johnson on January 25, 1960 in Kansas City, and to this union they had five children; Brenda Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Luke Johnson, Janet Love, and Mark Johnson.
She was dedicated to her family and loved her grandchildren, and was faithful to her church.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, sharing recipes and she spent a lot of time in her younger years painting. The she went to sewing – making many of her children’s clothes.
Anna and Dick spent every day of their lives together. She followed Dick with his work around Missouri until they built their house in Shell Knob in 1994 where they spent the rest of their retirement. They both enjoyed their woodshop where they worked together building wood project.
Processing the death of Dick, she moved back to Nebraska to spend time with her family and friends.
Anna is survived by her children Brenda Johnson of Shell Knob, MO, Kevin and his wife Lori Johnson of Fairbury, NE, Luke Johnson of Fairbury, NE, Janet and her husband Steve Love of Shell Knob, MO, Mark and his wife Carrie Johnson of Garden City, MO, brothers Ron and Carol Hein of Union City CA, Gary Jardin of Boston, MS, Ben and his wife Terri Hein, Riner Hein, sister Marg Wichman and husband Gary, 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren + 1 on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 4 brothers Gareld, Kenny, Alan and Scott Hein, and Sister Arliss Brown.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fairbury with Pastor Kyle Bendorf officiating. Burial will be in Rose Creek Cemetery with the memorial to the Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
