Arthur Bruce Achtemeier, age 61 of Denver, Colorado, died on May 4, 2007 in Denver. He was born on September 4, 1945 at Fairbury, Nebraska the son of Arthur Frederick and Anna Colene Darrow Achtemeier. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam.

Funeral services will be on Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Fairbury. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials are to the USS Will Rogers Veterans Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home: Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home—Box 15—Fairbury, Nebraska 68352.

Achtemeier and wife Evelyn of Beatrice, Nebraska, mother Anna Colene Achtemeier of Lincoln, Nebraska, sisters Anna Carolyn Sell and husband Larry of Beatrice, Nebraska, Arlene J. Geer and Jim Myers of Laramie, Wyoming, Ardyce Kay Palasz and husband Richard of Ft. Myers, Florida, Anita Rae Love of Lincoln, Nebraska, Lisa Rae Clover and husband Kenny of Lincoln, Nebraska, stepsisters Jeanette Parker of Plano, Texas, Kathy Beall of Lincoln, Nebraska, Birdie Corter and husband Randy of Beatrice, Nebraska, stepbrothers Bob Rayburn and wife Brenda of Beatrice, Nebraska, Gerald Rayburn and wife Sandy of Marysville, Kansas, Tim Rayburn and wife Lois of Beatrice, Nebraska, Leo Rayburn and wife Yodi of Grand Island, Nebraska, David Rayburn and wife Mary of Beatrice, Nebraska, many special nieces and nephews, a special friend Sally David of Denver, Colorado and a large extended family of submarine shipmates from the U.S.S. Will Rogers SSBN 659.
