Audrey Dawes, 99 of Fairbury, Ne passed away Saturday April 1, 2017 at Gardenside Nursing Home. She was born in Shelby, NE December 22, 1917 to Perry & Leona (Jones) Swan, married A. Neil Dawes in 1939 and they had five boys.
Audrey was active in the Fairbury United Methodist Church, many community activities including Jefferson County Fair Board,served as a 4-H leader for over 20 years, Blue Valley Beef Review, Fairbury beautification projects, local art shows, foreign student host and numerous others. She also served on the Camp Jefferson Board and especially enjoyed art and being a member of the Fairbury Art Guild.
Audrey loved the Lord, gardening, flowers, and helping others, but most of all loved her family.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and her husband. Survived by her sons Perry (Linda) of Omaha; Larry (Gail) of Alexandria, VA; Marvin (Carol) of Kearney; David (Kathy) of Lincoln; Lloyd (Karen) of Broken Arrow, OK; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Friday April 7th at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury, NE. Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday April 6th at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Homes.
