Barbara S. Greenwood

Barbara Sue Greenwood was born October 16, 1943 at home to Kenneth and Mary (Dirks-Stafford) Wright near Hebron, NE. She was welcomed by a 2 ½ year old sister, Bonnie. In 1945 the family moved to a farm north of Powell, NE and in November of 1948 another sister was born, Donna. She started school at District #102 east of Alexandria, NE.

The family moved south of Endicott, later to Helvey, and then on a farm near Alexandria where she then attended a country school and graduated from the 8th grade, then attended high school in Alexandria where she graduated in 1961.

After graduation she worked at the Fairbury Clinic.

Barb and Dick Greenwood were married in Las Vegas on September 11, 1967.

During their life together, they traveled a lot and attended many State Fairs in adjoining states. One of Barb’s highlights was going to Cheyenne Wyoming to Cheyenne Days.

Pastimes were reading and crocheting afghans for nieces and nephews and crocheting all kinds of handiwork.

After a long illness, she departed this life on November 1, 2016.

She leaves to morn her passing: husband Dick Greenwood of the home, sister – Bonnie (Jack) Buchli of Alexandria, NE, sister Donna (Roger) Macy of Portis, KS, sister-in-law LaRhee Kay Bedlan and Jim, brother-in-law Jerry Greenwood and Judy, Special Friend Tiny 2, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 am Friday November 4, 2016 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Burial at the Fairbury Cemetery-Fairbury, NE. Memorials to the Jefferson County Ambulance. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
