Barbara "Bobbe" Schwisow

Barbara “Bobbe” Jean (Mosley) Schwisow, daughter of Lester A. and Margaret M. (Winter) Mosley, was born in Lincoln, NE on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1946 and passed away on June 30, 2020.

Bobbe was raised in Western, NE and was baptized and developed her faith as a member of First Baptist Church.  She attended and graduated from Western Public Schools as a member of the Class of 1965.  After High School, Bobbe attended Joseph’s College of Beauty and obtained her cosmetology license.

Bobbe was joined together in holy matrimony to Lonnie L. Schwisow on June 1, 1968 at the First Baptist Church in Western by the Rev. O. A. Johnson.  One daughter, Alisa, and two sons, Aaron and Adam were born of this union.  Bobbe joined and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith as an adult and became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Daykin.

Bobbe spent her early adult life working as a Hair Stylist in Lincoln, Auburn, Fairbury, Tobias and Western.  In 1993, she became the Library Director at the Struckman-Baatz Library in Western where she continued to be employed at the time of her death.  Bobbe was proud of the many grants she wrote for the library as well as the Summer Reading Program and the Annual Miniature Christmas Tree Display.  Bobbe also was an Avon Representative in the Western area for many years.

Bobbe, and her late husband, Lonnie, served as Co-Presidents of the Western Community Club for many years and were very involved with the planning of the Annual Old Settlers’ Picnic for the community.  Bobbe attended Immanuel Lutheran Church served as a pianist for the congregation and taught Catechism Classes for many years.

Bobbe enjoyed traveling and seeing new things in different areas of the country including New England, Florida and Nashville in the last few years.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.  She spent many hours landscaping her yard and always enjoyed her flowers and rose bushes and decorating for Christmas.  Bobbe had a Christmas Village display that took up an entire room.  Decorating for Christmas and putting up the Christmas Village not only brought her happiness but the entire family happiness and a much looked forward to family tradition that made Christmas very special.

Bobbe is survived by her daughter, Alisa Pesek and husband Mitch of Swanton; sons Aaron and wife Amy of Omaha; Adam and wife Kady of Lincoln; five grandchildren TJ, Hailey, Hannah, Conner and Bradleigh; sister Leslie Wittgren and husband Joe of Lincoln.  Brother-in-law Myron Schwisow and wife Marion of Fairbury; Sister-in-laws Karen Schwisow of Fairbury and Kathleen Steinkamp and husband Robert of Beatrice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobbe was proceeded in death by her husband Lonnie on July 28, 2015; her parents Lester and Margaret Mosley; and Father-in-law and mother-in-law August and Martha Schwisow.

Services will be held Friday, July 10 at 2 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Daykin, NE. No viewing - visitation is scheduled from 7-9 pm Thursday, July 9 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Chapel in Fairbury, NE. Masks are encouraged for all services. Private family interment at Plainview Cemetery in Western, NE.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
