Betty Ann Bohling, age 89, born November 2, 1925 and passed away on Thursday, August 20th, 2015 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury.
She was born to Elmer & Edith (Daughtery Kerns) Finke. She was baptized December 20, 1925 and confirmed December 29, 1940 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE.
Betty graduated from Deshler Public School in 1944.
On October 1, 1944 she was united in marriage to Arnold Potthast. To this union there were 4 children born, Sharon Rae, Beverly Jean, Dennis Lee (died in infancy) and Diane Sue. Arnold passed away November 4, 1957.
She married Loyd Brinton on May 14th 1960. To this union one son was born, Richard Loyd. Loyd passed away April 17, 1963.
She married Glenn Andres December 4, 1966 and he passed away March 22, 1982.
On June 30, 1984, she married Harlan Bohling. Harlan passed away January 20, 2007.
Betty worked as a nurses’ aide at various hospitals and Blue Valley Nursing Home. She was also a manager at Ashley’s Outlet Store in Fairbury. She was a lifelong resident of Thayer & Jefferson County.
She was preceded in death by parents, son and previous husbands, sister LaVerda Hintz and her husband Glenwood, two sisters who died in infancy and son-in-law, Dennis Kugel.
She is survived by daughters Sharon Kugel of Hebron, NE, Beverly Blecha & friend Richard Winchester of Lincoln, NE, Diane & her husband Mick Hynek of Endicott, NE, and son Richard Brinton of Scottsbluff, NE. She had 6 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren, and 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn stepchildren Randy (Sheri) Bohling of Mountain Home, ID, Tom (Barbara) Bohling of Davenport, NE, and Patty (Kerwin) Elting of Oak, NE, and many step-Grandchildren, step-Great Grandchildren and step-Great-Great Grandchildren, and stepchildren of Harlan and Doris Alderman Bohling.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury with Darlene Novotny officiating. Burial was at Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials are in lieu of flowers and will go to Heritage Care Center or the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Pallbearers were Matt Bohling, Carl Elting, William (Jr.) Rogers, Randy Thomas, Roger Bear, Wayne Kugel and Bryce Huss.
