Betty R. Brackle, 90, of Fairbury NE, passed away August 10, 2016 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. She was born to Lorenz Steven (Dodo) and Eleanor (Nona) Rasse October 27, 1925 in Fairbury, NE.
Survivors are daughters Becky Cory & Tom Batcheller of Sioux Falls, SD, Carolyn Seger of Fairbury, NE, son Robert & Marcene (Kellie) Brackle of Fairbury, 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband Morgan, son-in-law Donald Seger, son R. John, brother Melvin, sisters Eleanor (Sis) & Miriam (Pooty) Roode.
Betty graduated from Fairbury High School. She loved playing the clarinet with the FHS Band. Many years later, at 80, she used her musical talent to play the drums with the Fairbury Community Band.
She worked at Fairbury State Bank after High School and then attended Duchesne College in Omaha, NE. She met the love of her life, Morgan in 1945, and 6 weeks later they were married. Their family began just a year later. Morgan was devoted to Betty and she was the spark in his life.
Her accounting acumen brought their partnership to a deeper level with her as the bookkeeper for their family owned Brackle’s B Street Market. All of the children worked in the store alongside their Father and Mother. Eventually, Robert continued the family business.
Morgan built their first fiberglass boat which began many week-ends of camping & boating at Lovewell Lake. “The family” built a cabin at the Tuttle Creek community where friends and family gathered weekly.
Betty was an active bicyclist in Fairbury and Rockport, TX, where they wintered. She helped fund raise and promote the Little Blue River Trail.
She was an avid swimmer and golfer. Her household rule was “get your work done before 10 am and then we can all go play”. Many early summer mornings the children were with Betty on the golf course with a swim afterwards.
Her loving parents and family were always around sharing holidays together. Betty loved Halloween, a great Ghost story teller, especially while ironing.
She moved to Heritage in January of 2015 where she was given exceptional loving care.
Her love was her family and furry friends throughout life. Fitch was her “special friend and companion” and now rests at the farm Pet Cemetery.
