Betty J. Rohr

Betty Jean Rohr, 61, of Harbine, NE passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family.  She put up a long, courageous fight against breast cancer that spanned many years.

Betty was born in Fairbury, NE on November 29, 1958 to George and Dorothy (Dimond) Rohr.  She graduated from Fairbury High School in 1976.  On February 12, 1977, she married Larry Engelman.  They raised two sons, Jeff and Brad, and daughter Lisa.

Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who found joy spending time with her family and very dear friends.  She had a passion for quilting and spent many hours creating beautiful quilts for each of her grandchildren.  She was also an avid lover of Sudoku, crossword puzzles and soap operas.  She was known for her kind, loving heart and her compassionate spirit.  Betty was always there for her family and friends as a shoulder to lean on or listening ear.  In true mid-western fashion, her goodbyes were never quick and had many layers.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, George, her mother, Dorothy, as well as her brothers, Harold Rohr and John Rohr, and beloved dog Tango.  She is survived by her two sons Jeff Engelman and wife Amy, Brad Engelman and wife Kristin, and her daughter and best friend Lisa Engelman.  Six grandchildren, Jaycie, Laila, Brooklyn, Emerson, Remington and Sebastian.  Two brothers, Jim Rohr and Ray Rohr, two sisters-in-law Tudi Rohr and Gayle Rohr and many nieces, nephews, relatives and special friend Sami Clark.

A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, May 8 ^th , 2020 at Fairbury Cemetery at 10 am.  Flowers or donations may be sent to Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home at 2414 H Street Fairbury, NE 68352.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
