Bonnie Lenora Buchli

Bonnie Lenora (Stafford Wright) Buchli, 84, passed away June 23, 2025, in Lincoln. She was born May 16, 1941, to Kenneth George & Mary Louise (Dirks) Stafford Wright in Hebron, Nebraska.
She attended grade school district 101 in Helvey, where she graduated from the 8th grade. She attended her freshman & sophomore years in Fairbury, then transferred to Alexandria High School and graduated in 1959.
Bonnie helped on the farm while she was at home. After graduation, she worked for the Fairbury Daily News.
In 1960 she met Jack Buchli and they were married September 30, 1961, at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church by Reverend Jack Pettit. To this union 5 children were born – Janette Rae, Vickie Lynn (died at 2 ½ months), Terry Joe, Sally Louise & Debra Lyn. This union brought years of farming, helping manage the livestock operation, and helping run the family implement business. Along with the implement business came trips to Hawaii, Spain and the Bahamas.
She was a member of the Alexandria Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and deacon. She received a PW Honorary Life Member Award.  She also taught Bible School and Sunday School for several years.
Bonnie worked at the Alexandria Post Office for approximately 3 years. She was a Thayer County Volunteer on the election board committee, and she was also a member of the Alexandria Community Club. She did all these things, including gardening, involving the farmers market, and being part of bringing meals to the fields during harvest season. She was also a surrogate “Mom” to several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie enjoyed camping with family, fishing and traveling on bus tours. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.  The couple enjoyed an Alaskan Cruise for their 50th Anniversary.
Preceded in death by her parents, daughter Vickie Lynn, sister & brother-in-law Barbara & Dick Greenwood.
Survivors are her husband Jack, children Janette & Tim Drohman, Terry Joe & Nancy, Sally Louise, Debra Lyn & Jeff Winkle, grandchildren Landon Drohman (Jessie), Lathan Drohman (Megan) Cody Buchli, Dakotah Hicks (Dillon), Ethan Buchli, Annabelle Buchli, Elliana Buchli, Alycia Kipf, Justin Kipf, Peyton Winkle & special friend Jack, Lexi Ann Winkle & significant other Dalton, great-grandchildren, Edyn Drohman, Charley Drohman, Gage Drohman, Clair Coburn, Ava Coburn, Maverick Coburn, Dunham Hicks, Deagan Hicks, Chesney Drohman and Journey Drohman, sister Donna Macy (Roger).
Services will be Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Fairbury with Lana Likens officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home. Interment in Mahaska City Cemetery following lunch. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
