She graduated from High School in 1940 as Salutatorian of her class. She then taught school for 2 years at rural District 77 in Jefferson.

She married her High School sweetheart, Paul Davidson, on June 14, 1942. Later in 1956, Paul was confirmed by the Senate as Postmaster of Alexandria and served in that capacity for 32 years.
