Bonnie Sydow

Bonnie L. Sydow, 84 of Fairbury, passed away February 1, 2014 in Fairbury. She was born near Jansen, NE., July 20, 1929 to William and Berle Pottinger Stegeman. Graduated from Fairbury High School in 1946 and taught 8 grades in a one room schoolhouse.

She married H.T. Sydow on December 8, 1946. She was a member of Fairbury Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was active in West Ward PTA, VFW Auxiliary, ’23 Foundation and the Brotherhood Local Firemen and Engineers Auxiliary. Bonnie enjoyed cooking for family and friends, children, music, reading and playing cards with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, 3 brothers and a son-in-law.

She is survived by husband H.T. “Jay” of Fairbury, children Kristi Strizek and family of Lincoln, NE, Danny Sydow and wife Betty Ann of Gloucester, VA, Karen Pickett and husband Ronald and family of McAlpin, FL. 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a sister Kathryn Rinehart of Omaha, NE.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Fairbury, with Pastor Steve Frazier officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to ’23 Foundation or Presbyterian Church. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
