Bret Brian Hackbarth

Bret Brian Hackbarth of Fairmont, NE., passed away on September 14, 2012. He had a long courageous battle with pulmonary hypertension. During his short life he met & made many friends & will be remembered & respected by all for his continued courage. Bret was born May 21, 1971 in Frankfurt, West Germany, to L. J. (Bud) Hackbarth & Rita (Maslonka) Hackbarth.

Bret attended school at St. Michael's in Fairbury, NE., Salina, KS., & graduated from Lincoln East in Lincoln, NE. Bret graduated from Southeast Community College in Lincoln, with an Associate of Applied Science Degree, Specialization in Computer Aided Drafting. Bret worked for Lincoln Electric System & then for Miller & Associates in Kearney, NE.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on September 20, 2012 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home 2414 H st. Fairbury, NE., followed by a celebration of life luncheon at the Presbyterian Church next door to the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the NE. Bret's interests were being around classic cars, Indy car racing, hunting, movies, and visiting on line. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nephews.

Bret is survived by his parents, Bud and Rita Hackbarth of Fairmont, NE, sister Melissa McCormick and brother-in-law Loren McCormick and nephews Morgan McCormick and Ethan McCormick, all of Verdigre, NE. Step Grandmother Maxine Hackbarth, Phoenix, AZ, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.

Bret was preceded in death by Grandparents John and Marjorie Welborn, Lavern and Genevive Hackbarth, Martin and Frances Maslonka; uncles Lonnie Hackbarth, Wes Hackbarth, Jim Kokesh, Stan Maslonka, Norman Macklin, and Richard and Aunt Dorothy Muhe.
