Bruce Allen Virus, 62, of Steele City, NE passed away on September 29, 2016. Bruce was born October 27, 1953 in Hebron, NE, to Ludwig and Elizabeth (Holz) Virus.
Bruce graduated from Hebron High School in 1972.
He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, November 15, 1953, and confirmed June 2, 1968. Bruce then graduated from Hebron High School in 1972. After high school he worked at the Cheese Factory in Hebron. He was united in marriage to Donna Stewart on December 19, 1975, to this union two children were born, Allen and Cristy. They eventually moved to Fairbury where Bruce worked construction. He later had another daughter Nicole.
For the next 25 years, he worked for various cable companies ranging from Ohio, Texas, California and South Dakota.
Bruce later worked for Steve Houtwed for several years, up until his untimely death.
Bruce enjoyed going to cattle sales and buying the calves no one else wanted. He nursed the sick, helpless and nameless calves back to good health. He even had to chase them around Belvidere a time or two. He made sure to share these animals with his family. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them to cattle sales.
Preceded in death by parents Ludwig & Elizabeth Virus, sister Beverly Randolph, sister-in-law Nancy Virus.
Survived by Children: Allen & wife Pamela of Geneva, Cristy Holtzen & husband Mike of Deshler, Nicole Virus of Beatrice, grandsons Lathon & Kolten Virus, and Cord Holtzen, granddaughters Alexis & Ryver Holtzen, brothers Roger of Hebron, & Randy Virus of Belvidere, sister Marsha Ebeling & husband Dale of Steele City, and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church-Hebron, NE. Burial of ashes will be at Rose Hill Cemetery – Hebron, NE.
