Carol J. Blas

Carol Jean Blas (Dorman) passed on September 22, 2025, after a year-long battle with dementia. Carol was born on January 1, 1948, in Fairbury, NE, to Earl and Berna Dean (Cerveny) Dorman from Reynolds, NE. She was the Jefferson County New Year's baby! She attended school at Reynolds Grade School and Mahaska High School. She then went on to work at Lambriar Kennels in Mahaska, KS, for 27 years.

She married her husband, William (Bill) Blas, on May 28th, 1964, at Zion UCC in Gladstone. They were blessed with a son and a daughter, Terry Blas and Tamara (Tami) Sipek (Blas). They lived outside of Fairbury on the Blas Family Farm, built in 1917 by Bill's grandfather, Joseph. Carol loved to go camping with her family. She enjoyed watching and spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, and cooking. Her many pets meant so much to her and kept her happy.

Carol is survived by her husband William (Bill) Blas for over 61 years, her son, Terry (Leann) Blas, sister, Sharon Schmidt, sister-in-law, Ruth (Dennis) Schuster, brother-in-law Allan Zenger, grandchildren, Brittany Blas, Kaylee Sipek, Harlie Blas, Trayce Blas, Casidy Sipek, great-grandson, Ryder Schwartz, and expecting great-granddaughter in February, and many nieces, nephews, and greats. Carol is preceded by her parents, Earl and Berna Dean (Cerveny) Dorman, in-laws, Lawrence and Leta (Schacht) Blas, daughter, Tamara (Tami) Sipek (Blas), sister, Shirley Zenger, sister-in-law, Karen Rippe, brother-in-law, Roger Schmidt, great-grandson, Rylen Schwartz, and numerous aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th, 2025, at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m, with the family greeting friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. 

Memorial Services will be on Monday, October 13th, at Zion Countryside Church at 10:30 a.m. in Gladstone, Nebraska. The family requests casual attire to be worn.
