Carol L. Hughes of Fairbury, Nebraska passed away on November 22, 2020 at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 11 days.
Carol Lee Myers, daughter of Adelbert "Whitey" Myers and Eva Jobusch Myers, was born February 11, 1933 at Des Moines, Iowa.
Carol graduated from Des Moines Technical School in January 1951, specializing in clerical and accounting.
She worked at the Des Moines Register for a short while, then moved to Omaha in 1952, where she met and eventually married Dale Lee Hughes on January 16, 1953.
Dale and Carol lived in Boulder, Colorado in the early years of their marriage where their two daughters were born. Later moved back to Fairbury in 1969, where they resided since.
Carol worked in various clerical jobs, as a floor supervisor at Kellwood sewing plant, and her last job was as a night manager and cashier at Jack and Jill grocery store.
Her hobbies included travel, bowling, reading, genealogy, bird watching, and puzzle books. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren playing video games, watching movies, and mini golfing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, mother and father, sister Marilyn Ross, and brother Russell Myers, along with great granddaughter Krista Medina.
She is survived by daughters; Diana Busing (Mark) and Brenda McDaniel (Jeff), Grandchildren; Brandee, Andrew, Jesse, James, Courtney, Kelsey, Maddie, Natasha, Dylan and Abbie, as well as 17 great grandchildren.
Services to be held on Friday, December 4th, 2020 at 1:30 PM at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home.
