Carol L. Barber

December 25, 1940 — April 10, 2024

Our dear mother, Carol L. Barber sadly passed away on April 10, 2024, at the age of 83 at Good Samaritan – Angel’s Landing Beatrice, NE after a long battle of dementia. She was born on December 25, 1940, in Fairbury, NE to Samuel C. and Fannie Hackbarth.

She was nicknamed “Tiny” by her father because she was so small when she was born, she would fit in his pocket. She later was referred to as “Barbie Doll” by the nursing staff at Good Samaritan, they loved brushing and braiding her long, beautiful hair. She married the late Ronald J. Barber, Sr. on July 16, 1958, and they lived in the Fairbury, Steele City and Diller area. She was a member of and baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Diller, NE.  She loved gardening and Nebraska football and was immensely proud of her husband and family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Carol is survived by three children Linda (John “Gonzo”) Garcia of Diller, NE, Christina (Louis) Zaiger of Essex, IA and Ronald Jr. (Jackie) Barber of Harbine, NE. Grandchildren Jason Lichty, Ryan (Mindy) Lichty, Faren (Todd) Stark, Devin (Kodi) Garcia, Tanner Barber and special friend Crystal Schmidt, Chasity Zaiger and friend Derek Wallace, 9 great-grandchildren and sister Agnes Roland, sister-in-law Carol Price, brothers-in-law Kenneth Barber, Sr. and Harry Powell.

She is preceded in death by her husband and parents, along with her brother Robert Hackbarth, Billy Hackbarth, Ed Miller and Samuel E. Hackbarth and sisters Thelma Bean, Ethel Williams, Lillian Comer, Ruth Wagner and Alice Gibson.

On behalf of the entire family, we want to thank Good Samaritan – Angel’s Landing’s nursing staff for their kindness and loving care and friendship so freely given to our mother.
