Cecil G. Tamerius

August 18, 1927 — June 30, 2015

Cecil G. Tamerius, 87 of Fairbury, NE passed away June 30, 2015 at Gardenside Long Term Care. He was born to Hoyt and Hazel (Field) Tamerius in Plattsville, IA on August 18, 1927.

Cecil was married to Velma Gana of Belleville, KS in 1948, who preceded him in death. Later in life he married Doris Grummert of Plymouth, NE who also preceded him in death as did his parents, an infant son Edwin, his son Rick, a sister Mildred, and brothers Ernie, Clarence (Mike), Dean, Harold (Jack), Gerald (Gary) and Charles.

He spent his school years in Grant City, MO, Herington, KS and Belleville, KS. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Marines and served his enlistments in the Pacific. He was a long time employee of the Rock Island Railroad where he served as clerk-dispatch in Limon, CO, Belleville, KS, and Fairbury, NE. As a resident of Cuba, KS he served on the City Council for several years.

Cecil is survived by two daughters, Kay Hauschel (Gary) of Fairbury, NE and Joanna Novak (Rick) of Haddam, KS, Linda (Perry) Trecek of Agenda, KS, Diane (Brian) Freeman of Courtland, KS, and sons David (Susan) Grummert, Donald (DeLaine) Grummert, and Bradley (Jeanette) Grummert all of Plymouth, NE, and one brother Ed of Hannibal, MO, 18 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren.

Cecil was a life-long Kansas Jayhawk, St. Louis Cardinal and Kansas City Royal fan.

Services with full military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. July 3, 2015 at the Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury with Pastor David Lutze officiating. Burial will be at Fairbury Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:30 on Thursday evening at the Funeral Home.
