Charles F. Brown, 77, of Fairbury passed away May 25, 2019 in Fairbury. He was born July 23, 1941 to Norbert F. & Mayo R. (Davis) Brown in Fairbury.
He attended Park Elementary School and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1959. He then went on and attended Fairbury Junior College.
In 1961 he joined the United States Navy and served in Viet Nam as a medic, known by many as Bac Doc. He was honored with a Silver Star and Purple Heart during his tour.
On April 20, 1968 he married the love of his life, Arliss M. Brown. To this union three girls were born. Charles was a great family man, always looking forward and planning the next get-together or gathering and enjoying his grand-kids, great-grandkids and fur babies. Working hard was a big part of his life. He was part of the Army National Guard and retired from the United States Postal Service.
He is survived by Jodi (Dave) Gustafson, Sandra (Butch) Brunow, Katherine (Shannon) Arner all of Fairbury, Grandchildren Jessica (Shawn) Weakland of Beatrice, Patrisha (Nick) Wendland of Diller, Taylor Gustafson, Spencer Brunow, Jordan Arner, Riley Arner and Peyton Arner all of Fairbury, and Trevor (Amber) Brunow of Alexandria, Great-grandchildren Ciera & Katy Weakland, Athena & Vance Wendland and Cloe Brunow.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents NF & May, wife Arliss and granddaughter Ashley Gay.
Funeral services will be held Thursday May 30, 2109, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Fairbury, with Pastor Kyle Bendorf officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to the family’s choice.
