Charline E. Bambauer was born on March 27, 1928, to Charles and Edna Bambauer. She departed this life on September 9, 2021. Charline lived her life in Fairbury at the family home on Elm Street.
During her early years she was a dedicated Girl Scout and spent many hours at the Girl Scout cabin and Camp Jefferson. She received about eighty percent of the badges authorized by the Scouts.
Music was always a significant part of Charline’s life. Her father played guitar and her mother loved big band and jazz. Charline graduated from Fairbury High School in 1946. In high school she played the coronet in concert and marching band. After high school she attended Wichita State University and received a degree from the School of Fine Arts Music Department
Thereafter Charline taught music in many small towns around Fairbury. She started and played in numerous small bands in the area. Charline worked at the family music store and gave private music lessons to many people in Fairbury and the surrounding areas.
Charline was a member of the First Christian Church.
She is predeceased by her parents, Charles Bambauer and Edna Claflin Bambauer and her sister, Georgeanna Bambauer Jamison. She is survived by her brother George Bambauer of Boise, Idaho.
Charline will be buried in the family plot in Horton, Kansas, her mother’s hometown. We wish her well in her final journey.
Services will be Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Fairbury. Memorials will go to the First Christian Church. Burial will be Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Horton Kansas at the Horton City Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
