Clara L. Jacobson

April 5, 1923 — August 12, 2015

Clara L. Jacobson died on August 12, 2015. She was born April 5, 1923 to Albert and Margit Gudim of Newfolden, Minnesota. She married Kenneth C. Jacobson on August 23, 1947. They had six children: Paul (LaVonne), Margit Kegel (James), Mary Hoppe (Richard), Solveig Bischoff, Thomas (Kim), and Peter (Anne).

Clara graduated in English and Music from Augsburg College, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She taught intermittently with enthusiasm and skill. She was the devoted consort of her pastor-husband, but her job rearing her children, and sharing her faith in Jesus with them and her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren was paramount.

We, her children, remember her fondly for her production of church cherub choirs complete with white and red cottas, for her engineering of annual family Christmas pagents where everyone had a role, for her fondness for singing alto in a women's quartet, for her competitive participation in any game or sport, and for her joy in hearing her children and grandchildren sing.

Clara lived her last seventeen months at the Gardenside Care Center in Fairbury, Nebraska. She is remembered there for accompanying group singing, for her cheerful demeanor, for her encouraging pats and for her instruction in accurate pronunciation of her favorite Norwegian phrases.

Clara is preceded in death by her "darling husband Jake", her parents, one sister, one brother, and one grandson. She is survived by her children (listed above), grandchildren (Olaf, Eric Elsa, Paul Lars, Angie, Joshua, Hillary, Mary, Anne, Nathan, Kirsten, Thomas, Ross, Holly, Beth, Jacob, Kai, Leif, Leigh, Dane, Kari, Kristian, Petra, and Thomas), and many great-grandchildren. Her life and her death were characterized by her confidence in the love and salvation of God.

"The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1
