Clarence F. Black, Jr.

February 5, 1941 — July 17, 2021

Clarence Foster Black, Jr., of Fairbury, 80, passed away July 17 th , 2021. He was born February 5 th , 1941 in Fairbury, NE to Clarence F. Black, Sr., and Mildred G. (Feith) Black.

He married Marilyn Krob on October 27 th , 1961; they were to celebrate their 60 th wedding anniversary this year.  To this union, four children were born.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his children Allan (& Terri) Black of Fairbury, NE, Deborah (& Marcus) Porath of Lexington, NE, David (& Tracey) Black of Raymond, NE, and Pamela (& Eric) Weber of Foristell, MO, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother Jon (& Shirley) Black of Fairbury, sister Cheryl (& Darrell) Huss of Omaha, NE, brother-in-law Ronald (& Gloria) Krob of Fort Collins, CO, nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Clarence, and his grandson, Michael.

He attended District 20 and District 65, both rural of Fairbury, Fairbury High School, and Fairbury Junior College.

He grew up on a farm near Fairbury, NE and continued to live and work on that family farm.  He was a successful, self-employed farmer and ran a farrow-to-finish hog operation for many years.  He was Hog Farm Management’s Producer of the Year in 1971.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.  Later, he became a member and eventually a credentialed minister of the Assembly of God Church.  He shared his love for Christ with everyone he met and ministered in song and Word to various churches and nursing homes.

He enjoyed many sports, including football, fishing, and bowling, in which he had both passion and success, having bowled 300’s multiple times.  Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sharing his love of Husker football with his children and grandchildren, rarely missing a home game.

Services will be Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 10:00 in the morning at the Assembly of God Church in Jansen, NE.  The family will greet friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6 – 8.  Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
