Clarence A. Parker

August 13, 1924 — January 30, 2017

Clarence “Jack” Arthur Parker was born August 13th, 1924 to Charles and Orilla Parker in Burke, SD. Clarence was the 6th of 10 siblings.

As a child he and his family eventually moved to NW Missouri where he grew up. While looking for work, he moved to Bassett, NE, where he met and married Maudie Kaufman on May 14th 1950.
To this union were born 4 sons, Wayne, Larry, Darrell and Allen.

Clarence served in the US Army during WWII, as well as the Korean Conflict. He was awarded numerous medals and ribbons before being honorably discharged.

After living in Fremont, NE, for a number of years, where Clarence and his brother Denzil owned and operated a gas station, auto repair business, Clarence eventually went to work for TCD, a farm implement dealer and was transferred to Fairbury in 1969 as an implement mechanic. He eventually went to work for Canning Truck Service as a driver. Truck driving made an impression on his sons as all of them at one time or another drove a truck.

In retirement Clarence enjoyed playing horseshoes, and camping with his wife, Maudie. Clarence also enjoyed working with wood crafts and even started a small business called C.A.P.S. Woodcrafts.

Clarence loved the Lord and served in many capacities in the church down through the years and was a member of the First Church of God in Fairbury.

Clarence is survived by his wife Maudie, sons Wayne (Julie), Larry, Allen (Connie) and daughter-in-law Kathy, 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 4 sisters, and 5 brothers, as well as a daughter-in-law Mary Jane and a son Darrell.
