Curtis Randolph Bennett, 81, of Fairbury Nebraska passed away Sunday March 28, 2021 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. Curtis was born July 20, 1939 to Lester Thomas and Martha Henricka Eleanora (Janssen-Bennett). He married Sharon Lee Riddle in 1961. He served in the National Guard, he and his wife were featured on a square-dancing TV show in the late 50's -early 60's. He drove a truck for the Purina Company, he worked as a mason at the brickyard in Fairbury. He and his wife raised pigs, horses, cats and dogs. They also raised Chow dogs, peacocks, buffalo, potbellied pigs, goats and donkeys. He enjoyed farming on the same farm in Rural Fairbury all his life with his wife Sharon.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins along with his good friends Bob and Dee Short that helped him for many years, and a sister-in-law Beverly Korte.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, a sister Eleanor Zentz of Roseville Illinois and the love of his life Sharon who passed away October 17, 2003.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday April 3, 2021 at 10:00 am at Steele City Cemetery. A memorial has been set up for Steele City Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
