Dale Eugene Meyer

Dale Eugene Meyer was born April 1, 1933 to Paul and Bertha (Holtmeier) Meyer. He was baptized April 16, 1933 by Pastor Wm. J. Nau at Zion Lutheran Church, Tobias and was confirmed in the same church April 14, 1946 by vacancy Pastor O. R. Heinitz. His confirmation verse was I Cor. 6:20 “You were bought at a price, therefore honor God with your body.”

On April 29, 1956 he was united in marriage to Clarice (Bartels) Meyer at Zion Lutheran Church. God blessed them with 3 children, Becky, Jay and Tammy. July 1, 2015 Dale fell asleep in Jesus at the age of 82 years and 3 months at his home in Daykin.

He served his church in many offices. He also served the community on the Co-Op, JCB Board, and Village Board. He served his country in the Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of Daykin American Legion. Dale was diagnosed with Myelodysplasia in 2008 and acute leukemia June 9, 2015. He was a Red Power Farmer through and through. He loved being a steward of the land, which was also his “hobby”. He taught his family “you start a job and you finish it”. He enjoyed morning Coffee with the guys as well as pitch games at the Country Store.

He is survived by his wife Clarice of 59 years, daughters Becky (David) Grimes of Minden, NE, and Tammy Reuben of Dallas, TX and son Jay (Natalie) Meyer of Daykin, grandchildren Mark (Megan) Grimes, Elizabeth, Nathan and Matthew Grimes, Jill Kaitlyn, Ryan and Riley Meyer and Danielle, Grant, Autumn, Garrett and Faith Reuben, sisters Lorna Bartels and Vera Weber, sister-in-laws Lenora Bartels and Adair (Eldon) Craig and brother-in-law Roy (Judy) Bartels, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, son-in-law Allen Reuben, brother-in-laws Martin Bartels and Waddell Weber, parents-in-law Theodore and Clara (Endorf) Bartels and niece Kristi (Craig) Arp.

Services will be Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church at Tobias, NE with Pastor Ryan Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery - Tobias. Memorials have been established to Zion Lutheran Church, Tobias, Nebraska. Pallbearers are Ryan and Riley Meyer, Mark, Nathan and Matthew Grimes and Grant and Garrett Reuben.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jill and Kaitlyn Meyer, Elizabeth Grimes and Danielle, Autumn and Faith Reuben.
