Dale Olson age 87 of Fairbury, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. He was born January 1, 1926 at Leonardville, KS to Julius and Elsie Doyle Olson.
He was baptized May 28, 1967 at the Methodist Church in Randolph, KS. He was married to Ida Johnson, but later divorced. He was united in marriage to Elvera Free on September 1, 1979 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury. Dale was a retired farmer. He was a 4-H Community Leader and raised registered puppies and sold them on the East coast, he also raised short-horned Hereford cattle. Dale loved to restore houses and was in the rental business for over 30 years. He and Elvera traveled to all 48 continental states.
He is survived by his wife Elvera of Fairbury, daughter Janet Robbins and husband Lee of Yates Center, KS, son Donald Olson and wife Terri of Evans, GA, step daughters Barbara Andersen and husband Dale of Lincoln, NE, Karen Kempton and husband Bryan of Salina, KS. Grandchildren Melissa, Riley and Melanie Robbins of Yates Center, KS, Elizabeth Mann and husband Daniel of Kansas City, MO, great grandson, Ryan Coleman of Kansas City, MO. Step grandchildren Brian Johnson and wife LaDonna of Lincoln, NE, Aaron Rizor and wife Kari of Little Elm, TX, Todd Johnson and wife Jamie of Lincoln, NE, step great grandchildren Kody, Kiya, Kaeley, Landon, Morgan Johnson and Hayley and Colby Rizor. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury with Pastor Stan Ostgren officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Crooked Creek Cemetery at Leonardville, KS. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
