Darlene E. Orth passed away Saturday May 17, 2014 at the age of 88 years at her home in Fairbury, NE. at the Fairbury Gardens.

Darlene was born in Washington County in 1925 on December 25th. She lived in Mahaska, Kansas for several years until the family moved to Fairbury. She attended Fairbury grade school and later Fairbury High School where she graduated. She met her husband Delmar Orth in Fairbury. They married November 7, 1944 in Washington, KS. To them one son was born August 20, 1947. They resided in Fairbury, NE. for several years. Later they moved to Englewood, CA. After their son was killed in a car accident on July 17, 1966, they remained in CA. for a brief period of time. Eventually they moved back to Nebraska where she worked at Swingsters in Fairbury for several years. In March of 1972 Delmar passed away.

Darlene eventually moved to Lincoln, NE. While living in Lincoln, she worked as an electronic assembler at Hy-gain and Isco until her retirement at age 62. She was a very warm loving person. She loved helping people and staying in contact with her family.

She is survived by her brothers Jerry Wright and Glenda of Lincoln, NE., Gary Wright and Judy of Eagle, NE. sisters Norma Lee of Denver, CO., Jackie Hosack and Hugh of Blanchard, OK., several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father Wilber O. Wright, mother Goldie V. Griffin Wright, husband, Delmar Orth, son Reggie D. Orth, and sister Idonna Dae Wright.

Funeral services will be Friday May 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials will go to the family’s choice. The family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of the arrangements.
