Darrell D. Parker

October 20, 1957 — August 13, 2014

Darrell D. Parker age 56 of Fairbury, went to meet the Lord on Wednesday August 13, 2014. He was born October 20, 1957 to Clarence and Maudie Parker in Alliance, Nebraska.

Survivors include his wife Kathy, son Chris and wife Sarah, daughters Heidi Rogers and husband Eli, and Michelle Wyatt and friend Kris Buehler, all of Fairbury. Parents Clarence and Maudie Parker, 7 grandchildren; Marissa, Kloe, Billy, Gracie, Eli, Ryan and Molly; brothers Wayne Parker and wife Julie, Larry Parker, Allen Parker and wife Connie; mother-in-law Ramona Fischer and sister-in-law Karen Muhle and husband Lloyd of Hastings, Nebraska; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Fairbury High School in 1976. On September 22, 1979 he married Kathy Fischer. To this union 3 children were born. Darrell was a member of the Fairbury Foursquare Church and served on the church council and as head usher for many years.

He worked at the Pantry Grocery following graduation. He also was employed at Endicott Clay, Roode Packing Co., and Canning Truck Service. Darrell was presently employed by Randy Welsch of Welsch Trucking for the past 14 years.

He joined the Fairbury Rural Fire Department in 1987 and was an active member for the past 27 years, serving in various offices in the department over the years. He became the certified Chaplain for the Department this past year.

He enjoyed watching Nascar and attending local races, watching and listening to Southern Gospel Music; attending his family reunion, spending time with his family and especially playing with his grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Foursquare Church in Fairbury, Nebraska. The family will greet friends Sunday, August 17th from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice.
