Dean A. Endorf was born on March 30, 1937, to Fred and Alene (Jarchow) Endorf at Daykin, Nebraska.
He was baptized (April 18, 1937) and confirmed (April 2, 1950) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Daykin, Nebraska.
Dean attended rural school District #54 through the 8th Grade and graduated from Daykin High School with the class of 1954. He attended the University of Nebraska Agricultural College in Lincoln, Nebraska for 1 ½ Years.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army – spending 13 months of his military career in Korea. He was discharged on November 30th, 1962.
Dean married his classmate, Elaine Hohensee at St. John’s Lutheran Church on December 27th, 1956. They were the parents of two sons, David and Bob. He was very proud of his grandchildren and attended many of their activities. His heart was in his farming and livestock. He continued to do so until recently. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church serving on the council and various committees. Dean was active in the local communities by serving on the Alexandria Fire Department and EMT, Daykin American Legion, and Farmers’ Coop Board (Daykin and Plymouth), and many other organizations.
He liked to play cards and loved to dance, especially the waltz and polka.
Survivors are his wife, Elaine (almost 60 years), son: Bob (Trish) Endorf; grandchildren: Jenna (Matthew) Sobotka, Randii (Jacob) Byrd, Sydne Endorf, and Drew Endorf (Michaela Niederklein, girlfriend). Great-grandchildren: Sophie and Blaze Sobotka, Xander Endorf, Andrew and David Byrd; brother: Donn (Marilyn) Endorf; Sisters-in-Law: Gweneth (Roger) Walls, Karan (Phillip) Wittig; Brother-in-Law: Gene (Jodie) Hohensee; Aunts: Hazel Schmidt, Irene Marschman, Darlene Schweer, and Eleanor Schwan; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dean is preceded in death by son, David, his parents and parents-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in Daykin, NE with Pastor Patrick Sipes officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Daykin, NE. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, from 6:30 – 8:00 at the funeral home. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
