Delbert Wayne Pfingsten

Delbert Wayne Pfingsten, 88, passed away peacefully in his home on October 16, 2024, in Fairbury, NE. He was the husband of Janice Pfingsten, and together they shared 62 years of marriage.

Delbert was born in Hebron, NE on August 11, 1936. He was the son of George and Leona Pfingsten. Delbert attended District 17 in Thayer County until the 4th grade, then attended District 55 in Jefferson County until the 8th grade. He graduated from Fairbury High School in 1954 and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.

Delbert was employed at Swansons in Fairbury, NE and RM Weblemoe Sand and Gravel. He then worked for City of Fairbury Light and Water until he retired in 2002.

He continued to farm for the remainder of his life, enjoyed spending time with his family, and telling stories reliving the old days.

Delbert is survived by his wife Janice, Sons Delayne Pfingsten and Jed Plies, grandchildren Kolbe, Paige, Kyler, Keyten, and Kasen, and 7 great grandchildren with one on the way.

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents, sons Rick Plies and Kent Pfingsten, and brothers Alvin and George Pfingsten.

The funeral service will be held on November 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Gerdes Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury, NE. Lunch will be served following the service at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fairbury, NE. Casual dress is requested by the family, and memorial donations will go to the Fairbury Cemetery.
