Dennis "Cassious" Kirby

Dennis “Cassious” Kirby, age 73 of Fairbury passed away on January 18, 2012. He was born January 15, 1939 in Fairbury, the son of Cassious Burton Kirby and Mary Hinrichs. Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gerdes Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.


Survivors include spouse of 22 years, Doris Kirby of Fairbury, brothers Max Kirby and wife Janice of Marquette NE, Earl and Sharon Kirby of Omaha, Larry Kirby and wife Joyce of Safford AZ, 3 sisters Caroline McMurphy of Fairbury, Maxine and husband Jerry McMurphy of Omaha, Vicky Jackson and Husband of Holdrege Nebraska, 2 sons John Kirby of Dodge City, KS, Dennis William Kirby of Quinlon, TX, 1 daughter Denise Kirby of Dallas, TX, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.


Preceded in death by his parents, Cassious and Mary Kirby and a sister, Sharon Hancock.

He enjoyed camping, fishing and being on the lake with a bonfire and playing cards. He was a Shriner, Mason, and belonged to the VFW and Eagles for many years.
