Derek Dominic Moore, 35, passed away on July 14, 2015 in his mother’s home in Fairbury, NE. He was born July 19, 1979 in Fairbury to Benny T. and Linda Moore.

Derek (Dom) attended school in the Fairbury Public School system. He graduated from Fairbury High School in 1997. When he was 8 years old he started taking classes in Tae Kwon Do. He participated and won many trophies in tournaments, the Nebraska state games and the National Jr. Olympics. He earned his black belt when he was 16. In Jr. High and High school he ran cross country for 6 years. He was also in band, jazz band, chorus, and show choir. After high school he held a number of jobs before moving to Kearney to attend the University of Nebraska there. While there he also attained his EMT License and was one semester short of his Paramedic license. He started working at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney in 2011 in the transport department, later becoming the Transport Supervisor. Then he worked as an EMT in the Emergency Services Department.

Derek (Dom), as he was known in Kearney, is survived by his mother, Linda Moore, sister, Terri Day and husband Don, and nephew, Coty. He also had a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends and his faithful dog, Hamlet.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benny T. Moore, brother, Jeffery Woodside, and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Orval Buehler and Mr. and Mrs. George Moore.

Funeral services were held July 17, at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Murdoch of Kearney officiating. Interment was in the Fairbury Cemetery. There were also services at the First Baptist Church in Kearney on July 20, 2015 with Pastor Stan Murdoch officiating. The Good Samaritan Hospital held a Celebration of Life ceremony July 21, 2015 in the hospital chapel.
