Devona Wichman

DeVona Antonette Wichman 96 of Gretna, NE. formerly Fairbury, passed away March 13, 2008 in Gretna. She was born April 3, 1911 in Boelus, NE. She graduated from Boelus High in 1929, & married Wilbur "Pete" Wichman on June 26th of the same year. DeVona & Pete lived in Farwell after their marriage, moving to Oregon for a time during the Depression, & ultimately settled in Fairbury in 1939, where she obtained her teaching certificate, & taught K through 12 in a one-room school for many years. In 2003 DeVona moved to Gretna. She was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church & a 50 year Member of Eastern Star.

Survivors are Sons & Wives: W. Kent & Connie Wichman of Omaha, NE., Gary & Margaret Wichman of Alliance, NE., Daughter & Husband: Marcia & Kay Klaumann of Belleville, KS., 8 Grandchildren & 15 Great Grandchildren. Preceded by Parents Anton & Annie (Schmaljohn) Rask, Husband Pete, Brothers Leslie & Anton, Sisters Francis, Margueritte, & Evelyn.

Viewing from 12 - 2 p.m. with services at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 18, 2008 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home Chapel in Fairbury, with Rev. James Facklam officiating. Private Interment. Memorials to the Charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
