Donald R. Gregory, 80, of Reynolds, passed away December 14th at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury.
Don was born March 20, 1934, in Belleville, KS to Walter and Marion Brennenstuhl Gregory. He attended school at District 44 until the family moved to Reynolds where he finished his education and graduated high school there.
He married Marjorie Prellwitz on September 8, 1956. To them, five children were born.
He was drafted into the army in 1956 and he and Marge moved to Fort Smith, AR. He attained the rank of Sergeant Specialist Fourth Class.
He worked for Farmers Union Co-op in Reynolds until he started his career as the Reynolds Postmaster from 1964 - 1992. After a day’s work at the post office, as owner/operator of Don’s Electric, he would do electrical work on the side. He served on the Rose Creek Cemetery Board, chaired the Reynolds Consignment sale, and read the light meters for the Village of Reynolds for many years.
He was active as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, ushering at the Nebraska Football games. He coached grade school basketball and enjoyed watching his children participate in sporting activities.
Preceding him in death were his son, Tim Gregory; parents, Walt & Marion Gregory; step-dad, Jim Gregory; siblings, Foster LaMonte Gregory and LaRhue Barton; brother-in-law, Dale Stevens and granddaughter, Teresa Ann Fryda.
He will be missed by the love of his life, Marjorie Gregory of 58 years; his children: Terry and wife Maureen of Omaha; Lori and husband, Mark Davis of Eagan, MN; Brenda and husband, John Pankratz of Billings, MT; Ann and husband, Tom Fryda of Omaha, daughter-in-law, Jackie Gregory of Reynolds, 22 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. He will also be missed by sister, Barbara Stevens of Yankton, SD, sister-in-law, Alvira Gregory of Savannah, MO and brother-in-law, Richard Barton and wife, Marlene of Mahaska, KS.
Funeral Services will be December 17th at St. Michael‘s Catholic Church in Fairbury with Father John Birkel officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Creek Cemetery. Memorials to Family’s Choice.
