Donald Harris

Donald Harris, age 74, passed away on December 17, 2023, in Fairbury, Nebraska. He was born on August 11, 1949, in Lake Butler, Florida just 45 minutes later as a surprise to his twin brother Ronald. Donald and Ronald were the first set of twins born in Lake Butler. Donald was one of six children. He is survived by siblings Joyce Stratton of Medford, Oregon, Johnnie (Rachel) Harris of St. Augustine, Florida, Bonnie (George) Driver of Old Town, Florida, Connie (Mark) Samson of St. Augustine, Florida.

Donald had many jobs over the years, showcasing his diverse skills and adventurous spirit. From recovering a giant anchor at Anastasia State Park to working as a security officer and even making a giant donut at Dunkin Donuts, Donald's life was filled with colorful anecdotes. He was jack of all trades and a master of none. But one thing is for certain- he would do anything to help someone in need. He was stubborn and obnoxious, but enjoyed every minute of it. He was even known to tell a tall tale and he would always make you laugh.

Donald was a loving father survived by his children Shannon (Leon) Harris Sapp, Loni (Paul) Schramm, Bubba (Nicole) Harris, Lisa (Keith) White. He also leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren: Chad Smith, Taylor Smith, Hosston Bishop, Keely Schramm, Gavin Schramm, Makena Schramm, Zayla Harris, Travis Harris, Trevor Harris, Leon George Smith III, Drew Smith, Cassie Penwell, Karlee White, Rilee White, Layne White, and 21 great-grandchildren, his former wives and good friends Bonnie Plymill and Lynn Harris.

He was preceded in death by his father Lonnie Ray Harris, mother Katie Louise Harris, twin brother Ronald Harris, and grandson Bentley Hill.

In his free time, Donald cherished moments spent with his family and friends. Especially with the "Scooter Gang" at Fairbury Gardens. His vibrant personality was evident through his constant singing, whistling, Facebook messaging, and practical jokes. Whenever Donald was around there was never a dull moment.

Donald  will be missed by all who knew him. His willingness to help others and his sense of humor will be remembered and cherished forever.

Donald will be laid to rest at Craig Memorial Park, St. Augustine, Florida.
