Donald L. Sturm

Donald L. Sturm, age 82 0f Fairbury, Nebraska passed away September 1, 2017. He was born on July 30, 1935 in Fairbury the son of Robert and Hulda Buller Sturm. He was a lifelong resident of Fairbury graduating from Fairbury High School in 1953. He joined the Navy in 1955 where he served for 4 years.  He then returned to Fairbury and went to work for the Rock Island Railroad until its closing in 1980. He loved the outdoors and fishing. He always had a smile on his face.

Survivors include Donald Sturm and wife Amy of Odell, NE, Dale Sturm and wife Ruth of Mount Vernon, KY, Rhonda Jones and significant other Stan of Beatrice, NE, Teresa Sammartano and husband Dave of Boise, ID, Mike Sturm and family of Fairbury, Jamie Parker and husband Jeremy of Rapid City SD, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous extended family who loved him dearly.

Memorial services will be Friday, September 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury with Pastor Brian Julin-McCleary officiating.  Cremation has taken place.  Burial will be at a later date.  Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
