Donna J. Mitchell

Donna Jean Mitchell 91, died on February 5, 2020 while at Jefferson Community Health and Life Gardenside, Fairbury Nebraska.

Donna, was a life time resident of Fairbury, born to Henry Louis Korte and Marie M Korte (Koeing) in Plymouth, Nebraska August 29, 1928. The family   moved to Fairbury shortly thereafter.

She is preceded in death by husband Norman, parents Henry and Marie Korte, and her four brothers, Virgil, Marvin, Gerald and Robert, and son Ricky Mitchell.

She married her high school sweetheart Norman Edward Mitchell on the 4th of December 1945. From this union three sons were born: Thomas Edward of Crete, Nebraska, Steven Louis of Green Valley, Arizona and Ricky Lynn (late) of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Donna belonged to the Lutheran Church in Plymouth where she was baptized and confirmed as a member of the American Lutheran Church in Fairbury.

Donna loved playing golf and was an  avid golfer, winning several tournaments at the Fairbury Country Club. She was actually the first female golfer to make a hole in one on the second hole. She enjoyed watching the Huskers women’s volleyball and was a fan of Nebraska Husker football games.

She enjoyed knitting making several afghans.

Once Norman and Donna reached retirement they enjoyed spending their winters in Texas and summer’s in Nebraska for over 20 some years.

Donna enjoyed spending time with with her son’s and grandchildren!

Survivors include; son Thomas E. and wife Janis E., son Steven L. and wife Suzanne. Grandchildren include; Jennifer J. and husband Nathaniel Reisdorff, Timothy E. and wife Sherri L. Jason L., Stewart, Justin L., Vanessa M. and great grandchildren as well as her many dear friends!

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
