Doris M. Dragoo

Doris May (Zeibig) Dragoo was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away on January 17, 2022 at age 91 at Homestead House in Beatrice, NE.

She was born to Henry and Emma (Holn) Zeibig on December 17, 1930 in Steele City, NE. Doris moved to Fairbury, NE where she married the love of her life Dayle Dragoo on May 30, 1964.

She is survived by 3 of her 4 children: Ron Smith and Carolyn (Boston) Smith of Fairbury, NE; Peg (Smith) Kuhlman and Francis Coudeyras of Beatrice, NE; Darrell Dragoo and Shellie (Ussery) Dragoo of Omaha, NE; Daughter-in-law Teresa (Hendrych) Smith of Fairbury, NE; 8 Grandchildren: Shawn Smith and Kimberlee (Mitchell) Smith of Council Bluffs, IA; Brian Smith and Ariel (Hadwiger) Smith of Lincoln, NE; Michelle (Smith) Sanford and Curt Sanford of Beatrice, NE; Jody (Smith) McLain and Mike McLain of Fairbury, NE; Scott Smith and Hanna (Kunzman) Smith of Gretna, NE; Tyler Smith of Fairbury, NE; Robin (Smith) Gerloff and Aaron Gerloff of Juniata, NE and Madie Dragoo of Omaha, NE; 16 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great, Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Dayle, son Dennis Smith, and great granddaughter Mikaela McLain.

Doris loved spending time in the kitchen and her flower garden. She would create huge, luscious meals for the family gatherings. Mostly demanding to do everything herself including the homemade pies. Doris also took great pride in her flowers and the immaculate care of the beauty in her yard. She would gladly share flowers with all who asked for them. According to Doris, there is no such thing as too many flowers.

Doris loved her custodial job of 36 years at First National Bank of Fairbury. She thought of them less as co-workers and more like an extended family.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm on January 21, 2022 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home at 2414 H St. in Fairbury, NE. In lieu of flowers, please donate a memorial on her behalf which the family will choose at a later time. Gerdes-Meyer is assisting with arrangements.
