Doris Alane Gill passed away Monday October 7th, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Doris was 69 years young. She was born May 30, 1950 in Winfield, KS in a family of six children to the Redding family. She married Ryan (Mick) Gill on December 19, 1970 and welcomed three children of her own who loved her unconditionally. Doris’s family grew to also include nine grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Doris Redding graduated from North Platte Highschool in 1968, attended Jr College in North Platte for a year following, and then attended Kearney State College where she met her husband Mick. Doris and Mick married in 1970 and returned to Mick’s hometown in Fairbury and took over the family farm. Doris and Mick raised cattle and later opened an insurance agency in Fairbury that remains today. Doris was an avid hunter, loved to play golf, never missed a Nebraska football game, & was a super fan at her grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her husband, Mick, her children, Jenny, (Darin) of Omaha, Ryan (Kelly) of Philipsburg, MT and Andrew, of Fairbury, her grandchildren, brother Clark (Judy) of Larned, KS, brother, David of Marquette, NE, and sister Denise (Chuck) of Cascade MT and many more extended family members. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bobby and Dan. She will be missed by those where lucky enough to call her family and friend.

Memorial services will be Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Fairbury.The family will have a private burial at the cemetery and then will join the celebration of her life at the VFW located at 2337 K Street for a luncheon. In lieu of flowers memorials will go to Camp Jefferson or Bonham Theatre. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
