Doris Arlene (Wagner) Herman, 91 of Fairbury, Nebraska passed away April 12, 2015 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. She was born to Adolph & Opal (Lunsford) Wagner on May 19, 1923 at Crab Orchard, Nebraska.
Doris graduated from Filley High School and received her teaching certificate from Peru State College and taught in country schools in Johnson and Gage counties.She married Walter Joosten and they had one son, Andy Lee Joosten. The marriage ended in divorce. During her lifetime, she worked for Montgomery Ward, Poling Drug in Beatrice, she sold Avon, and worked for many years for Korbel Drug in Fairbury. She married Harold Herman October 5, 1969 and lived in the Fairbury area from that time until her death.
Survivors are Grandson Roy and wife Anne Joosten and family, 2 Great-Grandchildren Kelly and HayeLee Joosten, and due in July, Great-Great Granddaughter “Sofia Darlene”, who Doris was so excited about, brother-in-law Raymond Thomsen, nieces Linda Hodges and Lori Oelling.
Preceded in death by parents Adolph and Opal Wagner, son Andy Lee Joosten, husband Harold Herman, sister Lorene Wagner Thomsen, niece Joyce Thomsen Nippert and Joyce’s husband, David Lee Nippert.
Services were Friday, April 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury with Darlene Novotny officiating. Burial was in Zion U.C.C. Cemetery. Memorials will go to the church. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
