Doris I. Swartz

Doris Irene (McNish) Swartz, 93 years of age, passed away on December 22, 2020 peacefully at her home. She was born November 22, 1927 to Samuel J. McNish & Clara H. (Schaich) McNish at Morrowville, KS.

On May 24 ^th 1947 she married Edgar R. Swartz of Fairbury, NE.  To this union 2 children were born, Patricia & Michael Swartz.  Doris graduated from Morrowville rural High School and taught school for 4 years before getting married.

Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fairbury.  She worked for Hess Oil Company as a bookkeeper, Heritage Care Center and was a foster Grandparent for Head Start and Kids Connection for several years.

She is survived by daughter Patricia Ruhnke, son Michael (wife Cheryl) all of Fairbury, step-grandchildren Jeremy (wife Malia) of Oakland, NE, Joni Woodard of Fairbury, 3 step-great-grandchildren Dustin, Chris & Juli of Oakland, NE and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Wayne (wife Ruth) McNish, Richard McNish, Delpha (husband Leonard), step-granddaughter Jessica Woodard, nieces & nephews.

Graveside service will be Wednesday December 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice. Cremation has taken place - a book is available to sign at the Funeral Home. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
