Dorothy J. Bergen

Dorothy June Bergen, 80, of Fairbury, passed away December 1, 2022, at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury.  She was born July 28, 1942, to James & Alice (Salaway) Morrison in Long Valley, SD.

She was raised in the county in Long Valley, SD and her and her dad would bale hay and work for local farmers. After many summers of working and saving, she bought a brand new car at the age of 16.  She spent her later working years working restaurants and nursing homes.

Dorothy loved helping her children and grandchildren – giving them her last dollar to help them.

Survivors include son Gary Morrison, daughters Cheryl Montgomery and husband Mel, Sharon McMillan and her children Jaime, Allison & Jerry Jr. McMillan, granddaughter Mercedes Morrison, grandsons Bryan and wife Suzy Schroeder and Nathan Schroeder, Ashton Morrison and Jared Bettelyoun,  and brother Arthur Morrison, and extended family.

Preceding Dorothy in death is daughter Karen L. Morrison, husband Gary Bergen, her father James Morrison, Sr. and mother, Alice Morrison, brothers Roland Morrison, Sr., Orrie Morrison Sr., and James Morrison Jr., and sister Martina Morrison, son-in-law Craig Schroeder.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 7 ^th at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home between 4 – 6 p.m. A Graveside service will be held December 8 ^th at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials will go to the Family's Choice.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
