Dorothy Bures

Dorothy Mae Bures, 89, Beatrice, formerly of Odell, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, at the Beatrice Manor. She was born May 30, 1918 near Odell the daughter of Walter and Laura Bernadt Hauver. She graduated from Diller High School in 1935. She married Edward Bures on December 20, 1941 at Washington, KS. They farmed in the Odell area for over 40 years. Her hobbies included bowling and playing cards and bingo.



Survivors include sons James Bures and wife Jeanette of Odell and John Bures and wife Donna of Summerville, South Carolina; grandchildren Jody Bures-Helton and husband Greg of Viola, Kansas, Jill Bures-Scheele and husband Tim of Odell, Lorelei Hanslip and husband Mike of Summerville, South Carolina, Lawrence Bures and wife Heather of Summerville, South Carolina, and Joseph Bures and wife Jessica of Omaha, Nebraska and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters Marilyn Novotny and husband Rudolph of Odell and Gretchen Gingery of Beatrice. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Laura Hauver, husband Edward, and brother-in-law Charles Gingery.



A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2008 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Beatrice. Burial will be in the Odell Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Vance-Gerdes Funeral Home in Odell. Memorials to the family’s choice.
