Dorothy Moran

Dorothy Anna Kujath Moran was born to Frederick W. and Emillie
Krause Kujath on December 30, 1918 at the family farm south of Powell, NE and baptized at Powell, NE. She passed away April 30, 2010 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury, NE, at the age of 91 years and 4 months.
She attended rural school at District #26 south of Powell and graduated from Reynolds High School in 1935.
She was united in marriage to George Arthur Moran on September 22, 1937. They lived on various farms, until moving to Fairbury in 1975.
In Dorothy and George’s younger days, they enjoyed going to house dances and dance halls. In the 1940’s and early 1950,s they visited all 48 original states and Mexico, which included visiting Luella Ehle, Dorothy’s cousin, in New York City. In the early 50’s she worked in Fairbury at a chicken processing plant and later she worked at the Swift and Company in Beatrice, which was an egg and turkey plant.
In 1958 her mother passed away and she stayed home to care for her aging father at their home until 1964, while also helping on the farm and gardening. After that, she worked at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital as a ward clerk for over 25 years.
She also enjoyed going to auctions and collecting salt and pepper sets, cookie jars, lady’s head vases and knick knacks. She had a large collection and began selling them in the early 2000’s.
Dorothy and her husband never had children, but sure enjoyed their three nephews, Fred Kujath, Gary Stegemann and Robert Stegemann, and later their great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, a brother Fred E. and his wife Delta and a sister Dora Stegemann and her husband Claude.
She is survived by nephews Gary Stegemann of Beatrice, NE, Fred C. Kujath and wife Elizabeth of Fairbury, NE, Robert Stegemann and wife Kim of Alliance, NE, great nephews and nieces, Lee Stegemann and wife Tiffany and their children, Dustin, Cienna and Tarah of Wayne, NE, Ron Stegemann and wife Jane and their children, Kayla and Ryan of Beatrice, NE, Jason Stegemann and wife Anna of Denver, CO., Frederick B. Kujath and wife Jennifer and their children, Frederick Darrin and Erin Elizabeth of Fairbury, NE, Ann Kujath Waller and husband Jason and their children, Jonathan Edward and David Edward of Bellevue, NE, Moranda Kujath Krakow and husband Lucas of Windsor, CO, Christie Kujath Rice and husband Travis of Beatrice, NE and numerous cousins and friends.
