Dorothy Schramm, 96, of Fairbury, formerly of Odell, died October 19, 2016 at Gardenside LTC in Fairbury. She was born to William & Lucille (Fleischhauer) Hereth February 7, 1920 in rural Odell.
She and Paul Schramm were married on February 10, 1945. They spent their life living and farming north west of Odell. Her husband died July 4, 1976. A few years later, she moved into Odell in January of 1980. She moved to Fairbury in 2012.
She was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church at Odell, and of the Ladies Aid and LWML. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School many years. She was an active member of the senior citizen group and the American Legion Auxiliary #231.
She enjoyed plants and flowers, playing cards, and making quilts for her grandchildren.
Survivors include sons Darrell Schramm of Odell, Larry Schramm of Fairbury, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and son-in-law John Torpy of Elkhorn.
Preceded in death by husband Paul, parents, daughter Diane Torpy, grandson Ryan Schramm, daughter-in-law Dianna Schramm, sisters Elaine Penkava, Helen Schramm, and brother Dean Hereth.
Services will be Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Odell, with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating. The family will greet friends Monday evening from 7 – 8:30 at the Vance Gerdes Funeral Home in Odell. Memorials will go to the church.
