Dortha L. Sleigh

Dortha L. Sleigh, 83 of Fairbury, NE died October 20, 2014 at her home. She was born to William and Katie (Crone) Garrison January 3, 1931 in Fairbury.

After graduating from Fairbury High School, Dortha married Donald Sleigh on November 25, 1951 in the Fairbury United Methodist Church. She then went on to Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse.

They resided in Jacksonville, FL while Don was stationed with the Navy. They moved back to Fairbury where Don worked for Rock Island Railroad and Dortha worked at the Jefferson Community Hospital.

She is survived by daughter Kim Broz & Mike Fahrenbruch of Omaha, NE and son Blake and wife Cindy of Broomfield, CO; 3 Grandchildren Quintin & Katie Sleigh of Buffalo Grove, IL, Chelsea Sleigh of Albuquerque, NM, Collin Sleigh of Broomfield, CO and 2 Great-Grandchildren Carter Cody of Albuquerque, NM and Morgan Jean Sleigh of Buffalo Grove, IL.

Dortha is preceded in death by her parents William and Katie, husband Donald, and brother Bill Garrison.

Services will be Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury, NE with Pastor Fay Hubbard officiating. Memorials suggested to the United Methodist Church or Beatrice Hospice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
